THE POSITION

Quality is at the root of everything we do at SMG. The Quality Manager is a dynamic strategic thinker and a do-er, developing and improving policies, procedures, and processes for the company.  The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment where they may be faced with multiple competing priorities.  Customer facing, the Quality Manager has excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. With a mechanical background, this individual is a builder who gets satisfaction from establishing processes to guide the quality activities of the company, while promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement from the ground up.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT

  • Bring together the quality activities of all manufacturing segments for overall planning and priorities in line with the objectives of the company.
  • Review and resolve quality control problems/concerns with the quality team and others including vendors, customers, quality control personnel, and any personnel related to production.
  • Lead team to improve quality control and quality assurance procedures including documentation, reporting, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate and lead audits with various OEM customers.
  • Develop and fortify existing quality inspection requirements based on specific part standards, as defined by internal engineering and customer criteria.
  • Ensure collaboration between quality team and other departments throughout the organization.
  • Enhance and manage internal/external corrective and preventive action processes.
  • Working with internal teams to enact vendor quality improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinates and assists with vendor inspections and product inspections, as necessary.
  • Coordinate between quality teams in Canada and Overseas.

WHAT SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU REQUIRE

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Quality leadership role in a Manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • In-depth understanding of quality procedures.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft tools and quality related software.
  • Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally, as required.

  • Starting salary of $90,000 to $110,000, depending on experience
    o Annual bonus of 15% based on performance metrics
